# One-year limited warranty

The terms of the one-year limited warranty that Ledger gives on Ledger Stax devices used for commercial purposes with Ledger Enterprise.

This page gives the terms of the voluntary manufacturer's limited warranty (the "Limited Warranty") on Ledger Stax devices used for commercial purposes.

**Applies to:** Ledger electronic devices used for commercial purposes only. The Ledger Stax is the only device that qualifies.

## Scope

* The Limited Warranty gives its benefits for the Ledger electronic devices named on this page, when they are used for commercial purposes only.
* The Limited Warranty does not protect end users who use Ledger products for personal use.
* All rights under the Limited Warranty are non-transferable.
* The voluntary manufacturer's limited warranty for consumers is the [Ledger one-year limited warranty](https://shop.ledger.com/pages/one-year-limited-warranty) (checked on 9 October 2026).

## Who gives the warranty

LEDGER SAS ("Ledger") gives the Limited Warranty. LEDGER SAS is incorporated and registered in France with company number 529 991 119. Its registered office is at 106 rue du Temple, 75003 Paris, France.

Ledger gives the Limited Warranty for the Ledger electronic devices (the "Product", as defined below). The terms, conditions, limitations and exclusions on this page apply.

## What is covered

A "Covered Defect" is a defect in workmanship or materials that the Product shows during the Warranty Term.

For a Covered Defect, Ledger does one of these three things, at Ledger's option:

1. Ledger replaces the Product with a Product of comparable type and quality. The replacement is new, or equivalent to new in durability and performance.
2. Ledger repairs the Product with new or remanufactured parts. These parts can be original manufacturer's parts or not, but their durability and performance are equivalent.
3. Ledger refunds the original purchase price, or issues a settlement payment that reflects the cost of a replacement Product of equal features and functionality. A settlement payment can be a check, a gift card or another electronic form of payment.

Only this electronic device qualifies as a Product under the Limited Warranty:

* Ledger Stax

The Limited Warranty covers the cost of the labor and parts necessary to remedy a Covered Defect in the Product. It also covers the cost of shipping a Product to or from Ledger or Ledger's authorized warranty administrator (the "warranty administrator").

Ledger makes no other express warranty for a Product.

## Warranty Term

The Limited Warranty starts on the date of the original purchase or on the delivery date, whichever is later. It lasts one (1) year (the "Warranty Term").

A replacement Product, a repaired Product or a replacement part gets only the time that remains from the Warranty Term of the original Product. A replacement, a repair or a replacement part therefore does not extend the Warranty Term of the original Product.

You acknowledge that Ledger can restrict where it gives warranty coverage. Ledger can also restrict where it facilitates the support given under the Limited Warranty.

## Limitation on the duration of implied warranties, conditions or other implied terms

**The Limited Warranty does not create any implied warranties, conditions or other implied terms.**

**Applicable laws can create implied warranties, conditions or other implied terms. These include, but are not limited to, any implied warranty of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose, or both. The duration of all such implied warranties, conditions or other implied terms is limited to the Warranty Term of the Limited Warranty.**

## What is not covered

An item that is not a Product is not covered by the Limited Warranty.

The Limited Warranty also does not cover defects, damage, inoperability, functionality or other issues with respect to the Product. This applies when one of these causes them, all or in part, or is connected to them:

1. Accidental damage, or damage to the Product from external factors outside Ledger's control. These include, without limitation, fire, acts of nature and force-majeure events that originate outside the Product.
2. Cosmetic damage, or parts that are considered consumable, for example batteries.
3. Normal wear and tear, or any damage from the natural aging of the Product.
4. Damage from any of these:
   * Any improper use, care, recklessness, neglect, willful or intentional acts, misuse or abuse of the Product.
   * Any unauthorized use, repair, modification, customization, replacement, cleaning, maintenance, storage or handling of the Product. This applies to any of these actions other than as the manufacturer recommends or authorizes.
   * Any failure to comply with the manufacturer's specifications or instructions, or both. This includes the use of the Product with third-party products or components that are not approved.
5. Any loss that relates to hardware, software, electronic data, data on storage media, digital assets, digital currency, cryptocurrency, or any other type of electronic currency. This includes the loss of, loss of use of, damage to, corruption of, and inability to access or manipulate them. It applies when the loss is the result of one of these:
   * The malfunction of, or damage to, an operating part.
   * Viruses, applications, drivers or code.
   * Any support, configuration, installation or reinstallation of any software or data.
   * A Product replacement under the Limited Warranty.
6. Any failure, damage, repairs or loss that any other warranty, service plan or insurance covers, or a combination of them.

Unless otherwise specified, the Limited Warranty does not apply to Products used for personal, educational, rental or industrial purposes. It also does not apply to demonstration or in-store models, or to Products sold "as-is".

The Limited Warranty covers defects in the operating system and firmware. It does not apply to third-party applications or software on a Product.

Ledger disclaims any liability or representation that the Limited Warranty can repair or replace a Product without any loss of electronic data. This applies to the electronic data stored within a Product.

## Limitation of liability

Nothing in the Limited Warranty limits Ledger's liability for:

* Fraud, willful misconduct and, if applicable law requires it, gross negligence.
* Death or personal injury caused by Ledger's negligence.
* Any liability that cannot be excluded by law.

The terms below apply except as the Limited Warranty provides, and to the fullest extent that applicable law allows.

Ledger is not liable to you for any direct, incidental, special, punitive, exemplary, indirect or consequential damages of any kind whatsoever. You expressly understand and agree to this. Ledger disclaims all such damages. These include, but are not limited to:

* Loss of anticipated savings.
* Loss of use.
* Loss of or damage to goodwill or reputation.
* Loss of actual or anticipated profits.
* Loss of sales, opportunity, business or revenue.
* Loss or corruption of data.
* Any loss that relates to crypto assets or currency. This includes the loss of, loss of use of, damage to, corruption of, inability to access, and inability to manipulate them.

This disclaimer applies whatever the legal theory. It applies whether or not Ledger was made aware of the possibility of those damages. It also applies if a remedy fails of its essential purpose.

In no event does Ledger's maximum aggregate liability under the Limited Warranty exceed the original purchase price of the Product that the Limited Warranty covers.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages. It is therefore possible that the limitation or exclusion above does not apply to you.

## How to make a warranty claim

To make a claim, contact Ledger support. See [**Contacting Ledger support**](/help-center-v2/contacting-support.md).

You must report the claim within thirty (30) days after you discover the Covered Defect. Give this information:

1. A description of the alleged Covered Defect.
2. The date when you purchased or received the Product, and proof of purchase or delivery.
3. Your company name, company address, telephone number and email address.

Ledger or the warranty administrator gives you instructions to ship your Product to Ledger or to the warranty administrator.

* Do not ship your Product to Ledger or to the warranty administrator unless Ledger or the warranty administrator asks you to.
* If your shipping method does not follow Ledger's instructions, Ledger and the warranty administrator are not responsible for any loss or damage. This applies to your Product and to any other shipped items. Ledger and the warranty administrator disclaim any liability to you for such loss or damage.
* To complete your claim, you must ship your Product to Ledger within thirty (30) days after you receive the return instructions.
* Follow the return instructions carefully.
* If you do not return the Product in time, Ledger reserves the right to charge you the full price of the replacement of the Product.

When you get warranty support, back up any data on the Product first.

When you ship your Product, send only the hardware device and nothing else. Any documentation that Ledger receives is automatically destroyed, without exception.

If Ledger agrees that your defective Product meets the terms of the Limited Warranty, Ledger sends a replacement Product within 30 days of receipt. Ledger sends it to your business address. Ledger confirms this address with you before shipping.

## Other important terms

Ledger manages any personal information that you give in accordance with the terms on the processing of customer personal data in your agreement with Ledger.

If any content of the Limited Warranty is declared void or inapplicable, it is deemed to be replaced by valid content. That valid content reflects, as closely as possible, the objective of the original content. The other content is not affected and stays in full force and effect.

Mandatory consumer protection laws in your country or state of residence do not override this paragraph, and do not apply to these terms. The laws of France govern the Limited Warranty and its interpretation. Any dispute, controversy, difference or claim that arises out of or relates to the Limited Warranty is referred to the competent courts of Paris, France. These courts resolve it.

## For users in the United States: statement of rights

* This warranty gives you specific legal rights. You can also have other rights, which vary from State to State.
* The Limited Warranty covers only Covered Defects that come from a defect in workmanship or materials. As a result, the Limited Warranty is neither a service contract nor an insurance policy.
* The Limited Warranty is construed and enforced according to the laws of the state where you reside, without regard to its choice of law principles.
* Some States do not allow limitations on how long an implied warranty, condition or other implied term lasts. It is therefore possible that the limitation above does not apply to you.
* Some States do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages. It is therefore possible that the limitation or exclusion above does not apply to you.

### Products sold in California, and Products purchased by California residents

These terms apply only to Products sold in California and to Products purchased by California residents.

* The Warranty Term is extended by the number of whole days that the Product is out of your possession for repair.
* If a Covered Defect exists within the Warranty Term, the Limited Warranty does not expire until that Covered Defect is fixed.
* The Warranty Term is also extended in these two cases:
  * Repairs to the Product for a Covered Defect were not performed, because of delays from circumstances beyond your control.
  * The repairs did not remedy the Covered Defect, and you notify Ledger of the failure of these repairs. You notify Ledger within sixty (60) days after the repairs were completed.
* If a Covered Defect is not fixed after a reasonable number of attempts, you can return the Product for a replacement or a refund. In both cases, a reasonable charge for the usage of the Product is deducted.
* This time extension does not affect the protections or remedies related to the Limited Warranty that you can have under other applicable laws.

## Language of these terms

These terms are translated and available in different languages. You agree that only the English version applies in a dispute that arises out of or relates to these terms. The English version prevails over the translations.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://help.enterprise.ledger.com/help-center-v2/reference/warranty.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
